Beyond the Bell at AIR

Beyond the Bell Toolkit - Online Access Only

American Institutes for Research’s (AIR’s) Beyond the Bell Toolkit is practical and easy to use. It contains valuable information for program leaders who want to start or improve an afterschool and expanded learning program.

Beyond the Bell—Live! offers all of this in an easy-to-access and more affordable online version. We encourage everyone to join the Beyond the Bell nation: The more keys you buy, the bigger the discount! Please see the About Ordering section for discount codes on orders of 26 or more.

The Toolkit is designed to be a resource for program leaders in new and existing programs who want to promote continuous quality improvement. The content reflects a cycle of continuous improvement: It helps program leaders and staff members develop a program using sound processes, implement the program by employing high-quality practices, rigorously evaluate the implementation of the program, and use the data from the evaluation activities to continually improve the program.

The Toolkit is divided into six stand-alone chapters:

Chapter 1: Management
Chapter 2: Program Design
Chapter 3: Partnerships and Collaboration
Chapter 4: Program Delivery
Chapter 5: Evaluation
Chapter 6: Program Improvement

Beyond the Bell—Live! still features:

  • Research-based best practices to develop, implement, and evaluate your program
  • Tips, strategies, and links to other parts of the continuous improvement cycle
  • 96 customizable tools like program schedules, youth preference surveys, activity planning guides, and more

New online-only features in Beyond the Bell—Live! include:

  • The ability to save content and come back to it later
  • An online quiz that will point you toward the most relevant information based on your unique program
